Sussex County Teams

Every year BasketballSUSSEX competes in various South East tournaments and competitions. These are primarily junior teams for Boys & Girls in the under 11, 13, 15, and 17 age groups. Occasionally senior events take place for Men & Women. Please see our Dates & Events page for further information.

2018 teams

Our U11, U13, U15 Girls & Boys junior Sussex County Teams will be taking part in the Surrey Festival of Basketball on Saturday 14 & Sunday 15 July @ Surrey Sports Park. The process for selecting our teams for this year begins with open trials on Sunday 22 April at BACA school.

U17 Girls & Boys compete Sunday 22 July 9am to 6pm @ K2, Crawley. Further information about our U17 open trials will be announced soon.

In collaboration with South East Basketball, dates for trails and further training will fall on the following dates to avoid clashes with other events: Sunday 22 April | Sunday 13 & 27 May tbc | Sunday 10 & 24 June tbc

Parents/guardians can pre-register player details by completing the above form (1 form per player please). Complete the form if you are unable to make the open trials and your details will be submitted to our Coaching Staff for further consideration if necessary.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  1. Who is eligible to represent Sussex in the county teams? To be eligible you should live or attend school anywhere in Brighton & Hove, East Sussex, or West Sussex.
  2. Can a player trial for 2 age groups? Players should attend the trial appropriate to their age group. Consideration for players to play up an age group is for the Coach and BasketballSUSSEX Coaching Technical Officer (Head Coach) to decide, with input from their Club Coach.
  3. I cannot attend the Open Trials, can I still be selected? Player selection for all teams is the responsibility of the Coach and the BasketballSUSSEX Coaching Technical Officer (Head Coach). If you cannot attend a trial, please complete the pre-registration form above with your details and an explanation of why you cannot attend. The information will be sent to the relevant coach for their consideration and reply.
  4. What is the cost commitment for players selected to represent Sussex? Trials and training sessions are £5. We are currently negotiating kit costs and will supply this to players as soon as possible. BasketballSUSSEX bursaries for players will be considered upon application, please email admin@basketballsussex.co.uk
